The Stuck in a Rut quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is an important side mission available in the Junon region. Completing this objective grants Cloud and his allies access to essential regional transportation while deepening party bonds.
Starting the Quest and Taming Belle
Players begin this quest by speaking with Gabe at the Junon Chocobo Ranch shortly after exiting the Mythril Mines. Gabe needs assistance repairing his carriage service, which requires capturing a mountain chocobo named Belle. Sneaking up on Belle involves throwing rocks to manipulate moving carts and avoiding the line of sight of local chocobos.
Reaching the Wainwright's Hut
Once Belle is secured, players can utilize her special scaling abilities to climb vertical cliffs around the Junon territory. Following the cliff paths leads directly up to the mountain workshop where the local Wainwright resides. The craftsman agrees to build the required carriage components if Cloud can forage the necessary raw materials scattered nearby.
Gathering the Wainwright's Materials
The Wainwright provides a hand-drawn map indicating three distinct locations where pieces of Dried Driftwood are buried. Riding Belle allows players to detect nearby treasures when a red question mark icon appears above her head. Sniffing out these locations leads to digging up all three pieces of required wood across the hills.
Completing the Quest and Unlocking Rewards
Returning the collected materials to the Wainwright allows him to craft the new carriage parts needed for Gabe's business. Delivering the parts back to Gabe completes the quest and awards the party EXP, SP, and a Queensguard Bangle. Additionally, finishing the mission unlocks the regional Chocobo Carriage service between the Grasslands and Junon, along with improved affinity with Aerith.
